Meet the Pigs

Kevin

Kevin arrived with Rosemary when their previous family could no longer care for them. He now lives in the middle of the Greenwood action with a vast field, woodland, and cozy home.

Kevin’s playful and boisterous energy means he is unable to live with other pigs. Even so, Kevin has Henry and Frank as neighbours and daily visits from the turkeys, ducks and a wild pheasant.

Winnie was found on the roadside in February 2022. She was tiny, about 1- 2 weeks old and had likely fallen from a transport truck. She went to Wales for emergency care and lots of cuddles before moving to Greenwood.

She lived in the house for three months, then moved outside with her best friend Tigger. Winnie lives in a huge house built for her, Tigger and Rosemary.

They have three acres to run, dig, and relax. They eat fresh fruit, vegetables and pig nuts. Winnie loves daily belly rubs and scratches behind her ears.

Winnie
Henry

Henry was found as a baby on the roadside by Henrietta (who he is now named after). He lived in the house at Greenwood for a while and loved chilling on a beanbag, listening to Bob Marley.

Henry has heterochromia (different coloured eyes), one is brown and one is blue – just like David Bowie. Henry initally moved in with Kevin but it was clear Kevin’s boisterous nature was not a suitable environment for Henry.

Henry moved to live on his own until Frank arrived to become his new best friends.

Tigger was gifted from a local pig farmer who had met Winnie and wanted her to have a companion of around the same age. Tigger was 6-7 weeks when she arrived at Greenwood and became friends with Winnie straight away.

Winnie and Tigger lived in the house together until they were big enough to move to a large field with their own stable. Tigger is very friendly. intelligent and recognises her name. She waits in the same spot for her food each day and loves lots of fuss.

Rosemary

Sponsor Rosemary

Rosemary had lived in another part of the country in a stable and had outgrown her area and her human family could no longer keep her.

She travelled up with Kevin and loved having all the new space. She wasn’t friendly at first towards the others and I had to separate them. One day she just pushed the side of the stable out and charged at the fence until she got through to Winnie and Tigger and they have been together ever since.

She is very large so she needs lots of exercise to stay fit and healthy and she can now run really fast – especially at meal times.

Frank was found tiny, sunburnt and starving. He went to Coppershell Animal Rescue and Suzanne went to collect him with Alyssa, one of our young volunteers. With encouragement, he began to take milk to grow stronger and was medicated for his severe sunburn on his face and ears.

He recovered in the house for three months, then went to live with Henry, his best pal. Frank and Henry go everywhere together and have their own woodland area.

He is loving, kind and kisses everyone he meets. He hasn’t grown to full size due to his terrible start in life.
